Next FREE Tele-Class!
Whatever you choose to call it (New Patient Class, Special Consultation, Orientation, Workshop, etc.) almost ALL D.C.’s agree it SHOULD be done and WOULD be a good systems to have in place. But, the glaring TRUTH of the matter is this: MOST PRACTICES HAVE A TOUGH TIME GETTING ANYONE TO ATTEND!
On this FREE call, Dr. Bart Anderson discusses this vital strategy with Minnesota Chiropractors Dr. Katie Kearney-Bidwell and Dr. Samantha Hermsen. Already having a great clinic when Dr. Sam stepped in as an associate just a few months ago, they were determined to make it stronger than ever. The Special Consultation (New Patient Class) was one area they focused on to start … and in the past 3 months moved that statistic from 0 to 70% attendance! And it’s still going up!
Listen in on this call and learn exactly how their TEAM made that happen.

More perspective on the Key Area of Management
Leadership” is the art of leading people right? Maybe. And “management” is getting them to do what you want right? Sort of….sometimes language or definitions can be confusing.
Leadership in a Healthsource setting is about how you are showing up as a leader. What time to you rise in the morning, what do you read, when do you work out, are you journaling, and what are you doing to develop yourself? It’s not really about directing people, that’s management.
10 Things Most People Don’t Know About Chiropractic
Every now and then we come across something written or put out by another D.C. that we like and feel motivated to share with our HS Launch U docs and other followers. Some pieces are from within HealthSource and some, like this one, are not. Some are not even from within Chiropractic! BUT, they are always congruent and have shared something we feel can help those we lead.
This piece that we are passing along was written by Dr. Erin O’Maley of O’Maley Mobile Wellness. Thanks Dr. Erin for posting the article below on your blog. Looks like many have read and shared. It is simple and well put for ALL to learn and apply – lay people, students and docs. We are reposting here for all to learn and use. It’s a great example of what ALL start-up docs can kick out to your patients, community and followers. You can do this, too!
Dr. O’Maley, thank you for allowing us to repost this!
Do you walk your talk?
Walk your talk … We have learned that some young DC’s do not even know what this expression is all about … or at least they do not demonstrate that they do! What it means is, do you “DO” what you say you will. In other words, talk is cheap. My friend Jeff likes to say, “Big talk does not impress me. Big action does!”
In our clinics, when we convert a prospect into a new patient, we tell the patient what our expectations are and also the goals of the care plan, right? Bringing these promises or goals into reality is called Patient Fulfillment! It is truly where the work BEGINS. Some docs may have the tendency to coast or relax after the patient decides to get care and even pre-pay for the treatment. This is a bad idea!
A Free Gift from LaunchU (and a D&C black belt)
This week we want to provide you some vital information in the KEY AREA of Business Development known as Patient Fulfillment – which, in a nut shell, is delivering the promise. A part of that service is being thorough … and tracking what you do to/with a patient. I think we’d all agree that it’s simply quality health care to do so.
Beyond that, in this day and age, every practicing D.C. (whether they opt to “play the insurance game” or not) must not only be “aware” of Documentation and Compliance factors …You pretty much need to be a black belt in the sport – or at least have one on your team! If not, it’s common knowledge that you will experience (a) challenges, delays and frustrations in getting paid and (b) audits, post-payment reviews … and all of that other “fun” stuff.
You have to do your own push-ups
Dr. Damon Walton, one of the founders and directors of HS Launch U shared this message with our doctors today … and it seemed obvious we needed to share it with all readers of our blog and weekly e-mail messages. Read and enjoy!
(NOT Dr. Damon Walton)
It’s a universal truth that persistence and hard work pays off.
It’s a reality that ultra-successful people will do what unsuccessful people will NOT.
Think about it in regards to the BEST relationships you see…those that have lasted decades. Do you think that, just by dumb luck, those things happen? Absolutely not! It takes effort and lots of it. All around us are examples to the contrary.

The Realities of Securing Start-up Funding
“Tid-bits and tips from a D.C. who lives in that world every day!
Dr. Bart Anderson discusses this vital topic with
Dr. Damon Walton
Dr. Damon Walton is the co-founder and director of HealthSource Launch U and a key part of the HS Central States Regional Developer team which coaches doctors in 8 states. One of his primary roles is walking prospective start-ups through the Method to the Money (M2M) program – that process of assisting them develop a REAL business plan, present it to lenders and most importantly jump through the hoops of securing the funds to launch their practice.
In case you’re wondering: YES! He has a very challenging role… that is filled with hurdles and frustrations for those trying to borrow. BUT, through that, Dr. Damon has become extremely knowldgable (and effective) at this critical step.
Think YOU could learn a few things from him?

Dr. Walton then opened his first solo clinic in Carlinville, IL in 1997, and opened his second clinic just 18 months later. In less than four years, Dr. Walton had expanded to 10 clinics across IL and MO. Retiring from successful chiropractic practice in 2003, Dr. Walton focused on financing and opening offices…having vested ownership in over 70 clinics nationwide, and helping to launch dozens more. Dr. Damon is a regular lecturer at numerous Chiropractic Colleges, and has been on the stage for a number of organizations over the years.
HealthSource is about MORE than just Rehab! It’s about LIFE!
Today’s post is by Dr. Chris Tomshack.
Check out the REAL e-mail shared with me this past week. I felt compelled to pass it on because I know SO many DC’s need the same thing that Dr. Sarah gained from being a part of a winning FAMILY! Read, enjoy and consider how YOU may benefit!

Dr. T! This is all so COOL! Not only our involvement with it, but more importantly what this says about HealthSource. How AWESOME is it that we have grown as a company enough to be able to refer patients to other HS clinics cross-country. Thank you so much for your vision and what you’re doing for our profession as a whole. Thank you also, sincerely, for the influence you’ve had in my life. Often, we move through life not knowing the ripples we create in others. I taught A/P several years ago at a Junior College. I had a student, very bright, who was going to drop my class because he had a young family to support and was struggling to do that and school. I encouraged him to finish out his classes as he had the highest grade in my class and I told him he would make an excellent physician one day. Do you know that he just graduated from Medical School?
He credited me with giving him the encouragement he needed to gut it out. And I’d like to pass the same thanks on to you.
Why do patients NOT come to my “New Patient Workshop”?
We were recently asked it that question … AGAIN! It’s a very common question … and this time is addressed by REQUEST. By the way, we have been getting more and more requests of topics and want you to know that we WELCOME them! Simply send to the e-mail at the bottom of this piece, and they will be properly handled. Thanks in advance!
Recall that last week we covered some things from the financial aspect of the Report of Findings (ROF). Another important matter typically addressed in the final part of the ROF is that of some sort of New Patient Workshop or Orientation. We actually call it the “Special Consultation” (referred to below as the “SC”). Whatever you choose to call it isn’t the topic of discussion here in this piece. Rather, we want to hit briefly on a few solutions to the common challenge DC’s have with getting patients to attend their workshops.
